Travel to Mackinac Island - Michigan

Travel by ferry to one of North America's favorite tourist locations. In North America this is quite a different sight as motor vehicles are not allowed on the island, and viewing horse drawn carriages and the many types of bicycles make things appear as the past.

John's Trip Comments Mackinac Island really does bring one back into the past where motorized vehicles no longer rule. You really need a whole day to visit many of the sights and a weeklong visit would allow one to take your time
John's Personal Views Kathy & I stayed overnight on the mainland and took the ferry over in the morning. After the visit we thought it may have been better to stay the night on the island for a night and be able to experience and see more there. Even though we were there for the full day and had a great walking tour ( by ourselves ), there is much to see and it would have been nice to spend more time. Seemed quite busy so best likely to pre-book for island stay.
John`s Recollections - 2009

Have always wondered why one would travel to an island with no vehicles, but now I know. WHAT a pleasant time and our only negative would be that we did not stay longer. This experience played a big role in being willing to go that extra step and see things that may otherwise be delayed until another day.
