Columbia River Dam, Fish Hatchery
|
![]() |
| John's Comments | Quite a sight to see the salmon using the fish ladder and the hatchery itself showed the efforts made to maintain an adequate supply of various fish. Even with using the ladder the salmon have a difficult task in reaching the next levels. Taking a break from constantly driving is quite important and here is a stop that allows you to get off the road for a few hours and see how a fish hatchery operates. The fish ladder was built so salmon are able to traverse from the bottom of the dam to the waters above. In their nursery you can meet someone that is older than you, that only swims. |
