John's Trip Comments This area of Texas actually is rolling hills and even some forests, but in areas it is also quite low in elevation. It was very easy to see the extent of damage a hurricane could cause to the economy, especially in the Beaumont area.

This drive along a very low lying area helped to realize the destruction that could be caused by later hurricanes in the area at Galveston.
